Experience in Guan Yu's Shrine in Jingzhou, Hubei
On June 5, 2009, Guan Yu's Shrine of Jingzhou Ancient City witnessed deafening sound of gongs and drums as well as big bangs of firecrackers. It had just held “Guan Gong Cruise Jingzhou Ancient City” yesterday, and conducted Guan Gong sacrifice ceremony, Guan Gong culture root carvings exhibition, Guan Gong Chinese Painting & Calligraphy Exhibition, artist program, etc. The passionate and spell able general manager of Guan Yu's Shrine Liu Yan fussed up and down, overflowing happy smiles over faces.
The site of Guan Yu's Shrine, which is located at the Xiejia Hill outside the New Southern Gate of Jingzhou Ancient City, is a half-round stereo bate, and falls in the scope of Wall Cultural Relics Protection. It was built in the early Ming Dynasty, but was damaged in Japanese aggression war against China. The rehabilitation includes main hall, side hall, entrance of Guan Yu's Shrine in Xiejia Hill and ancillary facility Guan Gong Culture Garden that covers 2800㎡. The whole architecture is of archaized and traditional styles.
The guests from Liaoning, Beijing, Shanxi, Wuhan, Taiwan praised Liu Yan father-daughter profusely for their benevolence of carrying forward Chinese Culture—Guandi Culture.
