Confucius Statue Settled on Beijing Tiananmen Square

World Guangong Culture Net News: yesterday, a Confucius bronze statue with a height of 9.5 meters on the north square of the National Museum was completed, to expand excellent Chinese traditional culture. Tiananmen area got new Culture landmark.

The statue is opposite to the east Chang An Street. Confucius folded his both hands, looking at the distant place, wearing a sword on his left body. The statue creator Wu Weishan, who is the director of Art Research Institute of China Art Academy, introduced that, the statue was made based on the whole building environment and surrounding space environment of the north square of the National Museum; by simple and general method, the human body was integrated into natural rock shape. With a tremendous momentum, the statue looks like great rock and high mountain. The statue and the National Museum building enhance each other's beauty, revealing long, splendid and upright Chinese culture.

      
It was also learned that, the extension and expansion project of the national museum has been completed, which lasted three years and a half, with an investment of 2.5 billion Yuan. It will be opened to the public in March of this year. It is an important culture construction project during “Eleventh Five-Year Plan” period. The building area of the national museum increases to nearly 200 thousand square meters from 65 thousand square meters. There are 49 exhibition halls of 800—2000 square meters and over 105 collections in the museum.
